Diets do way more harm than good.

Diets are a leading predictor of weight gain. A large body of research has shown that dieting leads to weight gain, for a large range of age groups, from children to teens to adults.

Diets can damage your metabolism. Research shows dieting slows the metabolism and affects hunger hormones, with the result dieters feel hungry most of the time, have difficulty feeling full, and regain weight easily.

Chronic dieting (weight cycling) has been linked to significant health consequences, including increased inflammation, heart disease, and diabetes.

Dieting hurts your psychological well-being. Dieters typically experience low body satisfaction, low self-esteem, food and body preoccupation, cravings, inner rebellion, and more. No wonder dieting significantly increases the risk of developing disordered eating.
